‘Deeksharambh’ First Year Induction Programme Held at MTM College, Veliyancode

As per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), MTM College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Veliyancode, organized ‘Deeksharambh’, the induction programme for newly admitted undergraduate students. The event also featured the launch of the college’s Green Protocol Initiative aimed at transforming the campus into a greener institution, along with a compassionate initiative to support the parents of differently-abled students.

The programme, held at the college auditorium, was presided over by Dr. K. Rajath K., Principal of MTM College. Dr. N. Saheer, Treasurer of the MTM Trust and Assistant Professor, Department of Oncology, Government Medical College, Thrissur, delivered the introductory address.

The induction programme was inaugurated by Mrs. Sudha C. V., Chairperson of Ponnani Municipality and a prominent social and political leader. She also officially launched the Green Protocol for the college. In her inaugural address, she appreciated MTM College for voluntarily adopting sustainable green practices as a higher education institution and remarked that such initiatives should serve as a model for other colleges.

Prof. N. Havva Umma, Secretary of the MTM Trust, delivered the keynote address.

As part of the event, the marketing launch of door mats handmade by the mothers of differently-abled children from Spectrum Special School was also held. The income generated through the sale of these products was officially handed over by Prof. N. Havva Umma to Ms. Ayesha, Headmistress of Spectrum Buds Special School, along with the mothers of the students. Ms. Ayesha also addressed the gathering and conveyed her greetings.

Following the official ceremony, the newly admitted students were welcomed with a vibrant music programme presented under the banner of ‘Thaalam Music Band’, led by Mrs. Nivya Manoharan, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, along with her team.

The programme began with a welcome address by Mr. Faisal Bava, environmental activist, author, and Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the college. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Satheesh Kumar C., FYUGP Coordinator and Head of the Department of Management Studies.

Faculty members, students, parents, and invited guests attended the programme.
