From Rivers to Oceans: The Fascinating World of Fisheries

he Nature Club of MTM College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Veliyancode, in association with IQAC, organized a programme titled “From Rivers to Oceans: The Fascinating World of Fisheries” on 21 November 2025 in connection with World Fisheries Day. The event featured a welcome address by Ms. Rahyanath P.V., presidential address by Principal Mr. Abdul Karim K., and a keynote session by Dr. Mohammed Meharoof, Project Officer, Matsyafed Prawn Hatchery, who highlighted the ecological and economic importance of fisheries. Felicitations were offered by Mr. Faisal Bava, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks by College Union Chairman Shamhan. With 97 active participants, the session enriched students’ understanding of fisheries and emphasized the need to conserve aquatic ecosystems.
