The Department of English commenced its academic journey in 2018 with the introduction of the B.A. English Language and Literature programme. Since its inception, the department has been committed to promoting language proficiency, literary appreciation, critical thinking, and holistic student development.
Located on the first floor of the new academic block, adjacent to the open auditorium, the department provides a comfortable and student-friendly learning environment. It has dedicated classrooms for all batches along with a well-furnished staff room. The classrooms are spacious, well-ventilated, and equipped with proper seating, lighting, and other essential facilities to ensure effective teaching and learning.
The department is supported by a balanced team of experienced senior faculty members and energetic young teachers who together ensure academic excellence and continuous progress. The first batch of students successfully completed the programme in 2021, achieving commendable academic results.
Teaching and learning activities are carried out in a systematic and planned manner. The syllabus is completed on time, with special attention given to weaker students through remedial coaching. Intensive revision classes are also arranged prior to university examinations to help students perform confidently.
The department is known for the warm relationship shared between teachers and students, which creates a positive academic atmosphere. Students actively participate in departmental programmes, college clubs, NSS activities, and cultural events, often taking leadership roles.
Many students belong to economically weaker sections of society, and several are first-generation learners striving to uplift their families through education. Their determination, resilience, and eagerness to learn inspire the faculty and strengthen the spirit of unity, commitment, and fellowship within the department.
The Department of English takes pride in creating socially aware, intellectually capable, and professionally competent graduates who are prepared to meet the challenges of the modern world.
